Amidst Aotearoa's initial lockdown on March 25, 2020, I received a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia, a chronic pain condition, following a prolonged period of illness due to unresolved trauma. This marked the start of a new healing journey. After 18 months of battling the condition, I unearthed a newfound passion during this challenging period.
While attending the funeral of a close friend back home in Waimārama, I was captivated by a mandala rock, igniting my interest in using art as a means to enhance my well-being. My aim was to craft pieces in memory of departed loved ones, providing a healing rock to connect with at their resting place. This endeavor has allowed me to extend this service to others grieving the loss of their loved ones, creating bespoke tributes in their honour.
Through painting and expressing my artwork, I have found a path to self-discovery and inner peace, drawing comfort and resilience from my creations. Along the way, I have discovered new methods that guide me in setting healing intentions during the creative process. While I offer a variety of pieces that showcase my artistic touch, the underlying intention remains constant: I aspire that when someone connects with my art, they connect with their authentic self, discovering a sense of serenity and tranquility. Mandala art is not just visually appealing; it possesses a transformative power that can enhance one's well-being, mind, and spirit, granting them empowerment and strength.
My greatest hope is that my art resonates with others, inspiring them to embark on their own journey of healing and happiness.
